Job Description
The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (RN) is a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) responsible for diagnosing and treating patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The CVU cares for over 4000 cardiology patients annually, including procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. Additionally, approximately 300 open heart surgery patients are discharged from this unit, and the CVU specializes in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies.
Responsibilities
The RN will be involved in patient care, utilizing clinical judgment and skills. Responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring patient vital signs and symptoms.
- Administering medications and treatments.
- Providing education and support to patients and families.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Required Experience
- 1+ year of Stepdown experience.
- Proficiency in cardiac care.
- Comfort with EKG readings.
- Must be willing to float to similar units.
Certifications / Licensure
- Current Michigan RN license verification required.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required.
