Pathology Lab Assistant

Job Description

The Pathology Lab Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the pathology department by accurately preparing specimens, managing workflow, and ensuring the highest quality of work standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process specimens for histology accurately and completely.
• Obtain and manage daily surgery schedules for specimen pick-up.
• Ensure specimens match requisition forms and are properly labeled with patient identifiers.
• Handle duties related to cassetting specimens, including ordering tests and printing labels.
• Monitor and inventory supplies, including the disposal of biohazard waste and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist pathologists as needed and complete preventive maintenance as assigned.
• Document quality assurance and maintain records for internal routing and log sheets.
• Collaborate effectively with pathology secretaries to expedite testing processes.

Schedule

This is an 8-hour day shift position from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with bi-weekly orientations. The expected start dates are November 3rd or November 17th, as per availability.
