Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Weekender Nights)

Schedule

Weekender (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Nights 7pm-7am, with holiday coverage if the holiday falls on the weekend.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse position is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department, ranging from pediatric to geriatric. The RN will perform all aspects of direct patient care and collaborate with other disciplines and ancillary services to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate all levels of patient care.
• Perform age-appropriate assessments and provide safe, effective care to all ages.
• Conduct triage using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process.
• Document nursing care and patient responses using medically and legally acceptable terminology.
• Collaborate with providers, peers, ancillary departments, and outside agencies.
• Coordinate care for multiple patients and prioritize to meet patient needs effectively.
• Advocate for patients through clear communication with the healthcare team.
• Monitor life support and technical equipment, and perform complex treatments.
• Ensure compliance with legal consent and preserve patient rights.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for patient care.
• Participate in educational experiences for pre-hospital emergency providers and students.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two-year nursing degree required; four-year degree preferred.
• Current Wisconsin Registered Nursing license or active Compact Licensure required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certification required; ATCN preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant nursing experience preferred.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
