Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will provide high-quality care to patients with complex medical conditions. This role involves critical thinking, advanced clinical skills, and a strong focus on patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform hourly rounding on days and every 2 hours on nights.
• Utilize AIDET to support effective communication with patients and families.
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin.
• Perform peritoneal dialysis, tube feedings, and NG/dobhoff tube insertions.
• Conduct procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube insertions.
• Troubleshoot wound vacs in conjunction with wound care specialists.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid RN license in the applicable state.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Experience with EKG rhythm interpretation and critical cardiac care.
• Strong proficiency with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and various oxygen delivery systems.
• Experience preferred in peritoneal dialysis and peripheral IV skills.
• Background in stroke care and post-cardiac catheterization.
