Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. The Therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans while ensuring patient education upon discharge. Key responsibilities include operating various ventilatory and nebulizer equipment, performing chest physiotherapy, and conducting physician-prescribed treatments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient conditions and recommend treatment plans.
• Explain treatments, procedures, and equipment to patients.
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, and oxygenation.
• Conduct chest physiotherapy and suctioning as needed.
• Monitor and record patient responses to respiratory care treatments.
• Perform diagnostic tests including pulmonary function studies and EKG.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care.
• Maintain records of treatments and communicate findings with healthcare teams.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current VA Respiratory Therapist License.
• Experience with ventilatory equipment and respiratory care procedures.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
