Occupational Therapist Assistant

Job Description

The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides rehabilitative and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders. This role includes working under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist to deliver evidence-based practice through various therapeutic activities.

Responsibilities

• Administer treatment interventions including ADL retraining, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
• Assess patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Document all clinical and regulatory required information accurately in the electronic documentation system.
• Provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding cognitive and/or physical disorders.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
• Ensure adherence to NBCOT/AOTA and state practice acts and ethics during professional practice.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of OTA experience is required.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation is required.
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license is required.
• Active State Licensure/Registration when applicable.

Schedule

This position requires 8-hour day shifts on a 35-hour work week.
