Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

This is a 26-week contract position, with a hard start date of 11/16.

Schedule

Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:30), with every other weekend coverage required. Self-scheduling is available.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The ideal candidate will have a robust background in critical care nursing, specifically in cardiovascular cases, and will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to adults and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with cardiovascular conditions, including interpretation of dysrhythmias and administration of IV insulin protocols.
• Provide care for ventilated patients and perform procedures such as arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to isolation precautions.
• Participate in patient education and support within an interdisciplinary team environment, collaborating with physical therapy, respiratory services, and other specialties.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, specifically in a cardiovascular setting, including open-heart and balloon pump experience.
• Active California Registered Nurse license required.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Candidates must complete an advanced EKG exam prior to start and succeed in an onsite EKG competency assessment.
