Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

This position requires a full-time schedule of 3x12 hour shifts, day or night, as scheduled by the client. The role also requires every other weekend (EOW) and holiday coverage, as well as 2 on-call shifts within a 4-week period.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies nursing theory, technical skills, and effective communication to provide high-quality care to patients and their families. This role encompasses assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams, providing direct patient care, evaluating progress, and coordinating care delivery throughout the patient's episode of care. The RN will specialize in caring for adults, adolescents, and geriatric populations admitted for various medical conditions. Education of patients and families for post-hospital care and lifestyle changes to promote health and healing is crucial in this role.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate nursing care based on assessment of patient and family needs.
• Create age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Monitor and adjust care plans based on patient responses and changing conditions.
• Promote and protect patients' health, safety, and rights.
• Educate patients and families on self-care and post-discharge plans.
• Document education provided and the patients' responses.
• Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice.
• Foster trusting relationships with patients and families to support their needs.
• Administer medications and interventions as per nursing protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical/Surgical environment.
