Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care, demonstrating quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Obtains and records initial assessment, establishing priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Re-assesses patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
- Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within established timeframes.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifies the plan of care as needed.
- Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and evaluates the plan of care.
- Utilizes effective communication strategies resulting in intended outcomes and promotes a positive work environment.
- Participates in the orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- BLS Certification from AHA required.
- ACLS Certification from AHA required.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
