Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Nights, 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with weekend requirements; 6 days per 6 weeks schedule period.

Job Description

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care while developing the ability to manage the contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Meets the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments according to the appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only).
• Current TNCC certification required.
• RN License in the state of TX or compact.
