Physical Therapist

Full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Physical Therapist will provide rehabilitation services to patients as referred, encompassing assessment, treatment plan development, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning. This role includes actively supporting clinical aspects of the department, such as program development, operations, and performance improvement activities. Supervisory responsibilities will also include coordinating the Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs, and overseeing Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Technicians, and Volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with patient/family participation, ensuring that measurable goals and methods are established.
• Adhere to documentation protocols, including Initial Patient Evaluations, Daily and Weekly Progress notes, and Discharge Summaries.
• Participate in patient care and family conferences, in-service programs, and departmental meetings.
• Counsel patients and families regarding evaluation, treatment, and care plans.
• Facilitate timely discharge planning, providing effective education and training.
• Assist in the orientation of new associates and scheduling to ensure quality patient coverage.
• Maintain awareness of community resources to facilitate appropriate referrals.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited institution.
• Current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure is required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
