Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

This is a Night 3x12.0 position, with every other weekend and holiday shifts required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will maintain the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is adhered to. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, as well as orient new staff within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The role emphasizes patient and employee safety, effective communication, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Develop individualized plans of care based on patient's assessments.
• Provide timely patient information for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching starting from the day of admission.
• Maintain communication regarding patient status with the care team for continuity of care.
• Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Promote a safe environment in accordance with hospital and nursing policies.
• Participate in team building and contribute to an efficient work atmosphere.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience preferred.
• ICU experience is required.
