Registered Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift - 12 x 3

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities are performed across all patient populations and in all service areas.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Determine methods of administering inhalants and modify as necessary to align with physician’s orders.
• Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas apparatus, and aerosol generators.
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs and blood chemistry changes.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises and pulmonary function tests.
• Consult with physicians regarding any adverse reactions and maintain accurate patient charts.
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• State license must be obtained as per regulations.

Schedule

This is a Night Shift position, working a 12 x 3 schedule with guaranteed hours.
