Med Surg Float Pool Nurse

Job Description

The Med Surg Float Pool nurse provides comprehensive patient care across multiple medical-surgical units, adapting quickly to varying patient populations and unit workflows. Nurses are expected to function independently, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and uphold all hospital policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in all inpatient medical-surgical units, as well as step down and ED for med-surg holds.
• Adapt quickly to different unit workflows and patient populations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and medication safety protocols.
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios, standardly 1:4 on Med Surg units.
• Participate in orientations and continuing education as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience required.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; TNCC and ACLS preferred.
• Strong EPIC proficiency is required.

Schedule

This position requires a NOC shift (19:00 – 07:30) with 3 × 12-hour shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. Nurses will be expected to work every other weekend.
