Ultrasound Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technologist to provide health care services using sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. The role involves performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in various areas including OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention as requested by a licensed practitioner while exercising professional judgment in the performance of services while maintaining medical ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic sonography procedures.
  • Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedures, ensuring information is documented for use by licensed practitioners.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to achieve desired results and minimize anxiety.
  • Select and operate ultrasound equipment and associated devices to achieve optimal results.
  • Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, ensuring patient comfort.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures and verify informed consent.
  • Practice aseptic techniques as necessary and maintain knowledge of Universal precautions.
  • Provide patient education and emotional support during procedures.
  • Maintain records respecting confidentiality and established policy.
  • Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan and control inventory as assigned.
  • Provide practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Associate or bachelor's degree from a CAHEA accredited sonography program or equivalent.
  • OBMI and ARDMS registered US Sonographer certification is required.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of ultrasound experience is required.
  • CRASE training preferred; required if travel assignment extends beyond a 6-month period.

This is a variable shift position, requiring flexibility in scheduling.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
