Respiratory Therapist - Nights

Schedule

Weekend/Call requirements: every other weekend and average of 3 calls per schedule; variable based on department need.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for evaluating patient outcomes and making necessary adjustments to the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This role includes providing comprehensive explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge protocols.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient outcomes and modifies care plans as needed.
• Communicates effectively with patients and their families about respiratory health.
• Accepts reassignment to different units when required.
• Shares clinical knowledge with staff and students, serving as a role model in clinical practice.
• Plans, implements, and assesses the effectiveness of respiratory care.
• Provides respiratory care as ordered by a physician, maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Illinois licensure.
• BLS and NRP-MHC certifications.
