Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, embodying the core values of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Identify teaching needs related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information and status updates during team conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and ensure adherence to the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel effectively.
• Promote and maintain safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning and engage in team-building activities.
• Provide cost-effective care while ensuring quality patient outcomes.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested.
• Pursue professional growth through continued education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS required prior to first shift (specific facility only).
• Minimum of two years bedside clinical experience highly desired.
• Critical care experience is required.
