Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) applies nursing knowledge, technical skill, and communication expertise to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care while applying appropriate interventions and evaluating patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and identify critical care needs.
• Utilize the principles of relationship-based care to alleviate patient anxiety and discomfort.
• Connect with patients and families during triage, establishing priorities of care according to Triage Standards.
• Monitor and document deviations from normal physiological and psychosocial health for all age groups.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and act as a resource to team members.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and post-emergency care.
• Teach patients and families about ongoing care requirements and assess their understanding.
• Maintain a healing environment and keep patients informed throughout their emergency care process.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active NYS RN Licensure.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke (AHA or RQI only).
• A minimum of two years of acute hospital experience in an Emergency Department.

Schedule / Shift

This position includes a rotating shift schedule of 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am, including holiday availability.
