Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all aspects of patient examination activities in nuclear medicine, producing high-quality images in accordance with established policies and procedures. The position requires general supervision and entails a range of diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Specialize in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
• Obtain patient history, explain procedures, and address concerns to ensure patient comfort.
• Operate and maintain nuclear scanning imaging equipment.
• Perform diagnostic studies, measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes.
• Identify, prepare, and administer medications/substances as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Complete quality assurance processes and practice radiation safety.
• Maintain required documentation in both paper and electronic formats.
• Ensure an adequate supply of consumables for quality testing.
• Conduct routine maintenance and function checks of all imaging equipment.
• Assist other areas of radiology as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine.
• Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
• BLS certification is required.
