Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend shifts (every 5th or 6th weekend).
Job Description
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all aspects of patient exam activities in nuclear medicine at a technical level, producing high-quality images consistent with established policies and procedures. This position requires general supervision and extensive knowledge of diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
Responsibilities
- Specialize in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
- Obtain patient history, explain procedures, and address patient concerns to ensure comfort and confidence.
- Operate and maintain all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform diagnostic studies, measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes for imaging.
- Identify, prepare, and administer medications/substances within the technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Complete quality assurance processes and maintain radiation safety protocols.
- Comply with all regulatory laws, standards, and protocols including those set by The Joint Commission.
- Maintain documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
- Manage inventory of consumables necessary for quality testing.
- Perform routine maintenance and function checks on imaging equipment following established protocols.
- Assist other areas of radiology as needed and perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) - REQUIRED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist - REQUIRED
- BLS certification - REQUIRED
