Registered Nurse - PACU (Pre-Operative and Post Operative)

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with a required 12-hour day shift, from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Weekend shifts will include every other Saturday.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with specialized experience in the PACU setting to provide exceptional care for patients both pre-operatively and post-operatively. The role involves critical monitoring and management of patients recovering from surgical procedures, as well as floating to various departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients in the PACU, ensuring they are stable after surgery.
• Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed.
• Assist in the management of cardiac drips and other vital interventions.
• Perform pre- and post-procedure evaluations and assessments.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and maintain continuous patient monitoring.
• Manage groin puncture sites and provide care post-catheterization.
• Ensure effective communication with the surgical team and transition of care to appropriate units.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of PACU experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• ICU experience is required; trauma level 1 experience is a plus.
• Ability to float to other units as needed, including Bramhall PACU/IMC/ICU.
