RN Supervisor - Skilled Nursing Facility

This is a night shift position that involves working 3, 8-hour shifts and 1, 12-hour shift per week, totaling 36 hours weekly. Shift times range from 11 PM to 7 AM (8 hours), 3 PM to 11 PM (8 hours), and 7 PM to 7 AM (12 hours). Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.

Job Description

The RN Supervisor serves as a clinical resource for problem-solving, mentoring, and coaching staff while facilitating patient flow during off shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The supervisor will oversee operations in a 180-bed facility that includes multiple specialized units caring for residents with complex needs, including dementia, diabetes, CVA, cardiac issues, and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise and leadership for nursing staff across the facility.
• Facilitate problem-solving and mentor staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
• Ensure patient flow and safety during off shifts, addressing challenges as they arise.
• Manage staff performance and compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
• Document incidents, sentinel events, or any notable patient changes as per hospital policy.
• Coordinate care for patients in multiple units with diverse needs.
• Oversee the use of specialized medical equipment and ensure proper care practices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• RN License in New York - required prior to submission.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including previous charge experience.
• Familiarity with the EPIC charting system is a must.
• BLSS certification preferred.
• Experience working in skilled nursing facilities and understanding of geriatrics is essential.
