Radiation Therapist

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, the Radiation Therapist delivers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed and obtains localization images according to the planned treatment delivery. This role involves assisting physicians or nurses in administering contrast agents during treatment localization and performing necessary measurements for treatment calculation.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment, simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices, shielding, radiosurgery, and brachytherapy procedures as per the treatment plan.
• Collect and document data acquired during simulation procedures and accurately input treatment-related data.
• Ensure patient safety through adherence to departmental procedures and report any deviations from prescribed treatment delivery.
• Document treatment records completely and accurately.
• Take portal images to assure treatment portal placement quality according to departmental procedures.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and their families, responding to their concerns effectively.
• Observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments, communicating findings to appropriate staff members.
• Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room and be proficient in necessary information systems and computer applications.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in a JRCERT-accredited institution.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
• ARRT certification is mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Compliance with PA Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 is necessary.

Schedule

This is a Day Shift position, working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
