Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Schedule
This position requires 3 - 12 hour shifts, with schedules from 7am to 7pm and 10am to 10pm. Additionally, the role includes every 3rd weekend and rotational holidays.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse position is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department, catering to a diverse age range from pediatric to geriatric. This role involves performing all aspects of direct patient care and collaborating with other disciplines and ancillary services to ensure optimal care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct age-appropriate assessments and provide safe, effective care.
- Perform triage utilizing the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process.
- Document care and patient responses in a legally acceptable manner.
- Collaborate with providers, peers, and ancillary departments for efficient patient care.
- Coordinate care needs for multiple patients and prioritize effectively.
- Advocate for patients and communicate needs clearly with team members.
- Complete professional development goals and mandatory education.
- Assess patient and family knowledge for discharge needs.
- Monitor life support equipment and perform emergency resuscitation protocols.
- Safely administer IV fluids, blood products, and parenteral fluids.
- Respond to critical situations calmly and efficiently.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and proper inventory of supplies.
- Participate in educational experiences for pre-hospital emergency providers and students.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Two-year nursing degree required; four-year degree preferred.
- Must hold and maintain a Wisconsin Registered Nursing license or active Compact Licensure.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required; ATCN preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
