Computed Tomography Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating shift. 2 shifts of 12 hours and 2 shifts of 8 hours per week, with a mix of daylight and evening shifts. Every other weekend or every third weekend coverage based upon needs.

Job Description

Independently performs imaging procedures and a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The facility is looking for candidates with cardiovascular (CV) experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration.
• Adjust protocols and utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
• Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and use of power injectors following departmental protocols.
• Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to administering contrast media.
• Interact with patients and co-workers, providing a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
• Communicate instructions clearly to patients and explain procedures to help alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
• Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal results in data acquisition.
• Document patient history in the electronic record as required.
• Ensure exams are properly coded and tracked, with all charges entered for the exams performed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
• CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• ARRT Certificate, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Compliance with PA Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73.
