X-Ray Technologist
Schedule
Mon - Friday Day shift, 8-hour shifts, including on-call, callback, and holidays as needed. Please note, candidates must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts, which may involve 2-3 call shifts per month.
Job Description
The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating radiologic equipment to generate diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and quality of care throughout the imaging process. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills, compassion, and the ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team.
Responsibilities
- Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before conducting x-ray procedures.
- Use x-ray equipment to capture images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physician’s orders.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any queries.
- Position patients correctly, which may involve lifting and assisting those with limited mobility.
- Handle all radiologic equipment safely, maintaining low radiation doses to patients.
- Monitor each patient’s status and respond to their age-specific needs.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.
- Notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems for verification of patient data and images.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Valid NYS license (or ability to obtain it prior to starting).
- Minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience, including Level 1 trauma center exposure.
- Recent experience using c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with effective communication abilities.
- Compassionate patient demeanor and teamwork-oriented approach.
