Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, ensuring the explanation of procedures and equipment to patients, along with necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography, reviewing chest x-rays for necessary evaluations.
• Assist with procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Conduct routine tests, including 12-Lead EKGs and pulmonary function studies.
• Communicate with physicians regarding therapy efficiency and document all treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Maintain ventilatory equipment and assist in its preventative maintenance and repair.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ACLS certification and a valid Michigan Respiratory Therapist license prior to hire.
• Preference for individuals willing to work both day and night shifts as needed.
