This is an 8-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 3x12.0 hours per week; flexibility to work both shifts as needed, primarily days.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport as prescribed by a physician, operating within the scope of their professional licensure with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain treatment purposes, procedures, and tests to patients, providing education upon discharge.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various respiratory support equipment.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography; perform routine evaluations including chest x-rays and pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Follow laboratory policies regarding testing, specimen handling, and quality controls.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and responses in records and charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have a current and valid Michigan Respiratory Therapy license.
• ACLS certification required prior to hire.
