Registered Nurse - Med Surg - Nights

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule from 18:30 to 07:00. Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit will provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients, ensuring the highest level of patient care through effective assessment and implementation of treatment plans. The RN will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and activate rapid response teams when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ conditions, documenting progress using the Epic charting system.
• Manage hemodialysis pre and post-care, including the administration of blood products.
• Perform wound care and manage surgical drains.
• Provide patient and family education regarding care plans and treatments.
• Demonstrate proficiency in handling medical equipment and supplies relevant to patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1 year of recent Med-Surg nursing experience required.
• Current BCLS certification required; CPI certification preferred.
• Experience with a patient ratio of 1:6.
• Ability to float to like units as needed based on facility requirements.
• Must possess a valid RN license; compact license accepted.
