Job Description

The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care in the Consulting/Infusion department. The RN demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and responsibility in their professional practice with minimal supervision. They determine care priorities based on individual patient needs and communicate effectively with practitioners regarding changes in patient status.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, ensuring cultural and psychosocial appropriateness in care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up instructions.
• Manage and administer medications and therapies, including IV initiation and blood transfusions as per practitioner directives.
• Document patient medical history accurately and maintain compliance with medical records guidelines.
• Utilize established safety protocols and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Provide interdisciplinary care and assist with procedures as necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Illinois RN License.
• BLS and ACLS Certification required.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification through the Oncology Nurse Society required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; chemotherapy experience preferred.
