Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

3:00 PM - 3:00 AM, Varied Schedule Sunday through Saturday, Every other Weekend, Every other Holiday

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions tailored to patient needs. The role involves providing high-quality patient care while fostering dignity and promoting a positive self-regard for patients. Collaboration with patients and families for effective discharge planning, supervision of nursing interventions, and ensuring patient safety are also key components of this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and develop care plans based on nursing standards and protocols.
• Provide patient and family education addressing identified learning needs.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapy safely, following physician orders.
• Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately and on time.
• Identify and report any risk factors for patient safety and medical errors.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and coordinate care with the healthcare team.
• Maintain knowledge of and implement disaster protocols and safety plans for vulnerable populations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in an Emergency Department preferred.
• Current Massachusetts RN license required.
• ACLS certification upon hire OR a current BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.
• AHA PALS within six months of hire; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN are preferred.
