Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions tailored to patient needs. The role involves providing high-quality patient care while fostering dignity and promoting a positive self-regard for patients. Collaboration with patients and families for effective discharge planning, supervision of nursing interventions, and ensuring patient safety are also key components of this role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments and develop care plans based on nursing standards and protocols.
- Provide patient and family education addressing identified learning needs.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapy safely, following physician orders.
- Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately and on time.
- Identify and report any risk factors for patient safety and medical errors.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and coordinate care with the healthcare team.
- Maintain knowledge of and implement disaster protocols and safety plans for vulnerable populations.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in an Emergency Department preferred.
- Current Massachusetts RN license required.
- ACLS certification upon hire OR a current BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA PALS within six months of hire; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN are preferred.
