Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Varied shifts including 3 x 12s: Days (0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030). Call requirements include Saturday and Sunday on a rotational basis.

Job Description

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides high-level care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures. This position involves evaluating assigned patients, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care, as well as assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Admit and prep patients for catheterization procedures.
• Start IVs and prepare access for procedures.
• Prep patients for cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Recover patients post-procedure who received conscious sedation.
• Sedate, circulate, and document bedside procedures including cardioversions and TEE.
• Discharge patients with appropriate teaching, documentation, and physical discharge procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in Arizona or compact state.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, cath lab, or surgery center preferred.
