PACU Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

This position is primarily a day shift, with varying shifts of 8 hours and 10 hours scheduled between 07:00 - 15:30 and 07:00 - 17:30. The PACU operates from 07:30 to 20:30, and shifts may be scheduled at any time during these hours. Every other weekend shift and on-call availability is required, including call on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse (RN) will provide professional nursing care in the post-anesthesia care unit, focusing on patient monitoring, evaluation, and support during recovery from surgery. Responsibilities include managing patient care, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in condition.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy.
• Provide discharge instructions and education to patients and families.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care and recovery.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the unit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in the state of Maryland or a Compact License.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a PACU or similar setting.
• Experience with the Epic charting system is preferred.
• Previous charge experience is required.
