Registered Nurse - PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Assignment Duration

This is a 12-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating schedule including Night shifts (3x12-Hour from 19:00 - 07:00) and Day shifts (3x12-Hour from 07:30 - 19:30). Weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Job Description

The PACU Main provides specialized peri-anesthesia care 24/7 for patients across the lifespan and spectrum of acuity. Nurses deliver vigilant pre and post-operative care to both inpatient and outpatient populations undergoing scheduled or emergency surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Administer care to patients recovering from anesthesia.
• Monitor vital signs and patient status during recovery.
• Manage airway and ventilation for ventilated patients.
• Administer intravenous medications and blood products as needed.
• Provide education and discharge instructions to patients and families.
• Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to provide comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of strong ICU experience is required.
• Active RN license in the state of Maryland or compact state required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS preferred; PALS is a plus.
• Previous charge experience is required.
• Familiarity with Epic charting system is preferred.
