Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15). Every other weekend required. Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift.

Job Description

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing nursing care to primarily medical-surgical patients with a history of oncology. The role involves administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, as well as caring for complex patient conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in an inpatient setting for medical-surgical oncology patients.
• Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy through IV, oral, or injection routes.
• Perform patient assessments and manage care for various medical diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, and diabetic foot ulcers.
• Utilize advanced skills in colostomy care, central line management, blood product administration, and wound management.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed, including isolation precautions and monitoring for potential complications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical inpatient setting; first-time travelers are accepted.
• Oncology certification preferred. Traveler must be able to administer chemotherapy as needed.
• BLS certification required; CPI and OCN certification preferred.
• Active RN license in NC or Compact license pending.
