Radiation Therapist

Monday to Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. No weekends or on-call responsibilities.

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist performs radiotherapy procedures as prescribed by a physician while adhering to established standards and practices. They are responsible for providing patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, and assessed competencies, following all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy courses using appropriate equipment.
• Obtain patient histories, address patient inquiries, and explain treatment procedures.
• Monitor patients throughout treatments for any unusual reactions.
• Ensure the accuracy of patient care through verification of prescriptions and patient identification.
• Document treatment plans, progress reports, and evaluations as per departmental requirements.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for patient treatment, carefully transferring patients when necessary.
• Reinforce care recommendations from physicians and allied health providers.
• Participate actively in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree in radiography with a certification in radiation therapy is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Graduate of a JRCERT approved program; registration with the ARRT in Radiation Therapy is necessary.
• State of Ohio radiation therapist license and ARRT license required; CPR certification is a plus.
• 1-2 years of experience in radiation therapy is preferred.
