Physical Therapy Assistant

Job Description

The Physical Therapy Assistant assists directly and indirectly with the delivery of PT services, including transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities as outlined by the treatment plan and in accordance with state practice guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist in therapeutic interventions designed to meet patients' long-term goals, including posture training, strengthening exercises, endurance training, balance exercises, and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
• Monitor patients' response to treatment and intervene as necessary.
• Document patient progress and response to treatment weekly.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with patients and staff.
• Participate in team conferences and special projects aimed at improving patient care.
• Attend continuing education to maintain professional standards and provide in-service education for peers.
• Comply with all safety, infection control, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Display a customer service attitude towards patients, visitors, and staff at all times.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid state PTA license required.
• BLS certification required.
• 2 years of bedside experience preferred.

Schedule

This position offers a Day 5x8 schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
