Registered Nurse - MS Stroke Stepdown

This position operates on a night shift schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit. Assigned responsibilities include monitoring and managing patient conditions, administering medications, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and neurological status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding care plans and health management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Utilize specialty equipment, including IV pumps and feeding tubes, as needed.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in accordance with hospital policy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must hold an active RN license in New York.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; NIHSS may be obtained before starting.
• 2+ years of nursing experience in a Medical-Surgical unit with a focus on stroke patients.
• Travel nursing experience is mandatory.
• Experience with EMR systems, particularly EPIC, is preferred.
