Ultrasound Technologist
Job Description
This is a 13-week contract position for an experienced Ultrasound Technologist who will perform general ultrasound exams. The focus will be on operating ultrasound equipment, preparing patients, and documenting findings, supporting physicians and radiologists in the diagnostic process.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures as per physician orders and departmental protocols.
- Operate ultrasound equipment, selecting appropriate transducers and settings to ensure optimal image quality.
- Prepare patients for procedures by clearly explaining exams, taking relevant medical history, and positioning them correctly.
- Recognize and document normal and abnormal sonographic findings.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians, providing preliminary impressions and ensuring timely delivery of images and reports.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including details of procedures and technical data.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and radiation safety protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education as required.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Utilize effective communication for customer identification, education, safety, and satisfaction.
- Document all variations from protocol and interventions with patients across all age groups.
Schedule
The position offers a schedule of 40 hours per week, consisting of 5 days of 8-hour shifts either from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekend shifts will entail 12-hour coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with weekday shifts before and after consisting of 7-hour durations. No on-call duties are required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in ultrasound technology.
- Must possess either ARDMS (AB) or ARDMS (OB) certification.
- This position is exclusive to ultrasound technologists; vascular techs are not needed.
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility.
