Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this role, you will provide professional nursing care during the post-anesthesia phases, ensuring a smooth transition for patients recovering from anesthesia. Your responsibilities will include the use of the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Standards to deliver high-quality care from pediatric to geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments of patients' conditions and prioritize care based on gathered data.
• Develop and coordinate personalized care plans that anticipate post-anesthesia complications.
• Initiate nursing interventions and manage patient pain effectively.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and communicate with patients and families regarding care.
• Continuously evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
• Ensure all emergency care supplies and equipment are operational.

Schedule

This position requires working 2 - hour shifts and 2 - 12 hour shifts, or 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, totaling 36-40 hours. There is also a call component involved.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program.
• Prior experience in PACU and Critical Care is preferred.
• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association, renewed every two years.
