Registered Nurse - CVICU/CVRU

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our high-acuity CVICU/CVRU team. This is a 13-week contract position in a 19-bed mixed unit that provides exceptional care for patients undergoing heart surgeries. The unit boasts a supportive environment led by highly trained charge nurses and an educator who will assist with orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients in a mixed CVICU/CVRU setting with a 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, adjusting based on patient acuity.
• Administer medications, manage hemodynamics, and perform critical care procedures such as intubation/extubation and pulling chest tubes/pacer wires.
• Utilize advanced cardiac devices including IABPs, Impellas, and LVADs.
• Engage in frequent ambulation of patients, and oversee recovery post-surgery.
• Collaborate with a dedicated ECMO team for patients requiring such interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Two years of CVICU or CVRU experience is required.
• Preferred certification in Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room care.
• Demonstrated strong critical care skills with a passion for surgical heart care.

Schedule

The position covers day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Nurses will be scheduled for every other weekend with potential for additional shifts as needed.
