Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour day/night rotating shifts, including weekends as scheduled. Nurses will work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Minimum of 3 night shifts required for those on straight days.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care for a ratio of 1:4, typically operating at 1:5, with some shifts at 1:6. The unit consists of 30 beds featuring both private and semi-private rooms. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, administering medications (including titrating fluids), and coordinating with an in-house clinical team, including Hospitalists and Intensivists.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with conditions such as chest pain, CHF, and post-procedural care.
• Manage and interpret telemetry strips with the support of Tele Techs.
• Titrate IV drips as needed, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin.
• Ensure high standards of patient safety and care in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Participate in floating to other departments as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN License
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Ability to manage IV placements (with IV team support) and provide CPR as necessary
