Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Schedule

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM with 36 hours guaranteed. Overtime will be applicable after 48 hours.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) collaborates with physicians to develop and implement a patient-centered care plan aimed at restoring optimal health. The role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various nursing support staff. Additionally, the RN is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans.

Responsibilities

• Assumes leadership in nursing care through delegation and task coordination.
• Engages in patient conferences to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
• Addresses ongoing and discharge teaching needs of patients by collaborating with appropriate resources.
• Pursues professional growth through educational opportunities.
• Mentors and precepts new employees and students.
• Acts as a team leader for proper patient placement and task assignments.
• Communicates effectively by providing clear and relevant information to patients and healthcare teams.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills through effective planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience - Required
• Comfort with floating to Emergency Department (ED) and Step Down units - Required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications - Required
• Preferred certifications: TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, SCRN - Nice to have
• Travel experience - Preferred
• Neurosurgical and open heart experience - Preferred
