Registered Respiratory Therapist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

36 hours per week, Day shifts (12-hour shifts), from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care and treatment to patients. This role involves assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, and executing respiratory therapy procedures while coordinating with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Systematically gather and evaluate patient information to develop appropriate care plans.
• Identify variations from expected findings and take necessary actions.
• Assess patient learning needs and provide education tailored to individual patients and families.
• Coordinate care with healthcare providers and document patient care plans and outcomes.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy and medication dosages, per physician orders.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as ABGs, pulmonary function tests, and EKGs.
• Set up and assess mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, and CPAP units.
• Implement and monitor components of the VAP bundle as per protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (or eligible).
• Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the State of Massachusetts.
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Prior experience in respiratory therapy is required.
