Job Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist I/II / Advanced Speech-Language Pathologist I/II position focuses on providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to a predominantly Native American population. This role involves the rehabilitation of patients with a range of developmental, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results for patients of all ages.
- Determine speech therapy treatment plans based on physician referrals or consultations.
- Set realistic treatment goals according to each patient's needs and evaluation findings.
- Document patients' assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and termination of services in electronic health records.
- Construct and implement therapies suited to patient goals and needs.
- Instruct patients, families, and staff on speech-language procedures and home programs.
- Provide specialty services including swallowing evaluations (VFSS, MBS, FEES), cognitive and voice treatment, as well as pediatric speech/language therapy and feeding evaluations.
- Engage in the development and direction of the speech therapy service, focusing on quality improvement and safety.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state certification requirements, including adherence to ASHA guidelines.
- Conduct training and in-services for student and staff education.
- Collaborate with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other healthcare workers as needed.
- Meet the credentialing requirements for the Medical Staff.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Maintaining certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA. A valid, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from Arizona or any state in the U.S. is required.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years working as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
