Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, including intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. The therapist operates within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conducts physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administers prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
• Performs chest physiotherapy and suctioning via various methods.
• Conducts oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Reviews patient's chest x-rays and performs 12-Lead EKG monitoring.
• Assists with procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Performs arterial puncture and determines efficiency of ventilation.
• Records and communicates patient treatment data and responses accurately.
• Maintains respiratory therapy charging and performs other assigned duties.
