Day shift, 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 16:30); will consider 4x10s (07:00 - 17:30) as well.

Job Description

The Inpatient Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) RN is responsible for providing specialized nursing care for patients with wounds, ostomies, and continence issues. This role involves evaluating patient needs, developing care plans, and providing education to patients and their families. The nurse will work collaboratively within the wound care team, rounding on multiple units to manage and treat various patient diagnoses including pressure injuries and chronic/acute wounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients with wound and ostomy care needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding wound care, ostomy management, and skin protection.
• Utilize advanced wound care techniques and products, including vacuum-assisted closure.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in wound care team rounds across multiple units.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers with strong skills/experience welcomed.
• Active RN license in Maryland or compact state.
• Certifications: WCC, BLS required; WOCN preferred.
• Experience with wound care techniques and familiarity with the Braden scale assessment.
