Registered Nurse - Emergency Psych Services

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department plays a crucial role in patient care, responsible for both direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process across all assigned areas. The RN will develop and update individualized interdisciplinary plans of care, evaluate patient outcomes, and identify available resources for patients. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients aged 5 and up, addressing a variety of psychiatric illnesses and medical care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process.
• Develop and periodically update individualized interdisciplinary plans of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and identify available resources for patients.
• Care for patients with a range of psychiatric diagnoses including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, and psychotic disorders.
• Assist patients who may require detoxification services.

Schedule

This position operates on a night shift, from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of previous experience in mental health nursing is required.
• A 2-Year Associate’s degree is required.
• A valid State of Maine RN license is required.
• BLS Certification is required.
• CPI training must be current prior to the start of the position.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to manage stress and make decisions under pressure is required.
• Flexibility to provide coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is necessary.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
