Level II Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Job Description

The Level II Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is accountable for the provision of competent care based on established standards. This position involves an expanded role that may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities. The ideal candidate must possess substantial experience in high acuity stroke and neurosurgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level nursing care in a stepdown unit setting.
• Monitor and manage patients with neurologic conditions.
• Administer medications and manage telemetry monitoring.
• Perform comprehensive neuro checks and manage various medical devices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have stepdown or PCU experience.
• Registered Nurse (RN) License in New York.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desired.
• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is a plus.
• Experience in managing EVDs, lumbar drains, and sub-dural drains.
• Familiarity with cardene drips, arterial lines, carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coil/clips, DBS Insertion, VP shunts, and patient seizure management.

Schedule

This position follows a D/E/N Rotating Shift Schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
