Lead Technician - Sterile Processing Department

Full-Time, 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM, starting ASAP.

Job Description

The Lead Technician is responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). The role requires maintaining documentation of activities, supervising a team of 3 to 6 associates across multiple shifts, and assisting in departmental decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and control day-to-day work within the Sterile Processing Department.
• Participate with Charge Nurse and Clinical Manager in department decisions, budgeting, and safety measures.
• Assist in the interviewing process and provide orientation for new Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Monitor compliance with sterilization procedures and guidelines.
• Develop department procedures to ensure quality patient care delivery.
• Supervise adherence to sterilization protocols and demonstrate the ability to process instruments per manufacturer guidelines.
• Coordinate Sterile Processing services with other departments and seek innovative service improvements.
• Work with the Charge Nurse in scheduling and assigning staff, adapting methods to accommodate diverse patient needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in Central Supply or Sterile Processing preferred.
• HSPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech (CRCST) required.
